How safe is Bhutan?

Safety at night:

Safety at night:Safe

Bhutan is widely known for its peaceful atmosphere and low crime rate. Even at night, it's generally safe to walk alone, owing to the community's respect for Buddhist principles and their neighbor's well-being. Though, it is always essential to remain cautious while walking alone at night in any city and also respect the local customs and traditions.
Public transportation:

Public transportation:Safe

Public transportation in Bhutan is relatively safe and reliable. Local buses connect all major towns, and while they may not be as comfortable as private transportation, they are generally safe to use. However, as with all forms of public transport, it's always a good idea to keep your belongings secure and avoid traveling alone at night.
Street harassment:

Street harassment:Very low

Bhutan is revered as one of the safest destinations for solo female travelers due to its significant emphasis on safety and respect for all individuals. Street harassment is very uncommon. The local culture is built on the principles of kindness and respect, which is typically extended to tourists as well. However, like anywhere globally, it's always important to stay cautious and respectful of the local customs and traditions.
Petty crimes:

Petty crimes:Very low

Bhutan is widely recognized as one of the safest travel destinations in the world, with petty crime rates remarkably low. Incidents such as pickpocketing, purse snatching, and minor thefts are relatively rare. The country largely attributes this to their citizen's deep cultural respect for law and order, grounded in Buddhist principles and the government's focus on Gross National Happiness. However, it is always necessary for travelers to be cautious and aware of their surroundings at all times, no matter how safe the destination is perceived to be.
Tap water:

Tap water:Moderate

Tap water in Bhutan is generally not recommended to drink directly from the tap due to variable water sanitation methods. While it is considered safe for locals who are accustomed to it, it might cause discomfort to the digestive system for tourists unaccustomed to it. However, boiled water and filtered water in hotels or guesthouses are usually safe.
