Ohrid, located in the southwestern part of North Macedonia, is a remarkable city steeped in the culture and history of the Balkans. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, nestled between stunning mountains on one side and the sparkling waters of Lake Ohrid on the other, is often referred to as the 'Jerusalem of the Balkans' because of its historical significance and religious importance. Known for its spectacular Byzantine-style architecture, it is home to a staggering array of churches, the most renowned being the St. John at Kaneo, perched above the lake. Ohrid was my first solo trip and I’ll never forget it! I spent there 4 full days. I took a day boat trip to saint naum and a day kayaking trip. The first day when I was just wandering around the city and chilling near the lake I got approached by a girl to meet her friends and go to the beach together, because she saw me being alone.
