Located on the southwestern coast of Ecuador, Guayaquil is considered the nation's bustling financial and commercial hub. Famed for its vibrant culture, this lively city is highlighted by its historical Las Peñas neighborhood with colonial-era architecture and cobblestone streets leading to the majestic Santa Ana Hill. Home to a bustling art scene, the city is abundant with museums, galleries, and the Malecón 2000 - an urban renewal project lining the Guayas River with entertainment, shopping, and dining options. Guayaquil's impressive modern and historic landmarks, coupled with its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, Galápagos Islands, and Andean Highlands, make it a prime spot for exploring the diverse beauty Ecuador has to offer.

I didn't have time for extensive sightseeing on the continent, but I spent a few nights in Guayaquil, which everyone says is the most dangerous city in Ecuador. However, I took a private tour with a guide and felt safe the entire time, staying in safer neighborhoods and only going out during the day.
