Marseille
Hello ! I’m 25 yo frenchy :) I started a backpack journey around the world in November 2024. I’m hoping to discover new countries and people. Not a big talker but I love to listen to any story 😌

Marseille
I'm a South African living in Marseille. I love exploring new cities I visit by taking walks, hiking and trying local cuisines. I'm someone who values both quiet time alone spend reading or watching movies and time spent out with friends going out for drinks orbat house parties.

Marseille has a reputation for being dangerous, but in my experience, it's no more dangerous than anywhere else in France. It's a fairly poor city, so there's a risk of theft, but I find Marseille to be, above all, a welcoming city.

Lots of guys ask for your Snapchat, lol. I was always hesitant to walk around Noailles at night. One day I was biking around looking for a rooftop to watch the sunset with some music, put the GPS on without knowing where I was going and suddenly boom, a whole area full of heroin junkies. Still, most parts of Marseille felt lively and friendly, and I never had any real trouble.

Marseille is a cosmopolitan and big city but it s has its own charms thanks to the mountains and the see nearby. It is also a city with strong history. Even though in some neighbourhoods it sucks most of them are safe ! You are never bored in Marseille !
Posted: November 6, 2025Marseille is safe if you know exactly where to go depending on what you need to see. I live in marseille since two years and I can say that I feel safe wherever I go. Besides, you have to know that there's some places where it's a bit not safe and I'm basically just avoid it because literally there's nothing special to do there.
