It's pretty much the safest place to visit in the world! Women are respected and have access to everything. It is recommended to wear clothing according to the cultural norm. It's the only country I feel completely safe in driving around at 3am in.

Honestly, it's very safe for anyone. I haven't had any issues living here..but I wouldn't recommend anyone to come during summer (june-july) it's too hot, December would be pretty good time to visit. (Expensive country)

Extremely safe for anyone. Been here my whole life. So can 100% confirm! Especially for women, you can stay out the whole day and night ALONE and trust me, nothing will happen to u. It’s honestly a privilege to live here!
Posted: September 2, 2024Qatar is one of the safest countries in the world. Any lady traveller can be sure that she will be respected and well treated here. You can stay outside any time of the day without danger of being robbed, raped, kidnapped. It's enough to know English to travel here.

It is generally a safe city with low crime rates, and they have many CCTVs and safety features around. The country prides itself for being safe and having a safe city but I always advice for the basic safety precautions anywhere you are.
Posted: May 9, 2024Qatar is an extremely safe country. I am a student. I can walk at night at any time. I am sure no one will approach me or try to do anything because the culture affects many things. It’s not appropriate in this country to approach a woman that openly or harass her.

Doha is a beautiful country with perfect architecture! Very kind and responsive people, so I didn’t feel fear or danger for a minute. I recommend visiting the The Pearl Island and Al Maha Island. Also go to Souq Waqif, there you can find souvenirs, clothing stores and etc. The weather is humid and hot, so I immediately bought myself an abaya, because it’s impossible to walk in jeans :)
Posted: December 26, 2024Experienced: December, 2024I was there a few months ago, and it is one of the few places where I didn't feel safe. Cars stopping non-stop, offering me rides or trips to the Safari, one followed me for so long until I hid in a café, men in shops offering to pay for me and then chatting me up at the entrance. Never again.

Hey, I'm Leila. I've been based in Doha, Qatar, since the end of 2020, and I've lived here and there. I never know how to answer the question "where are you from" because I never know what people are asking about (nationality? accent? where I grew up? what is home for me? where I got my skin color and features?...I have a different answer to each question) I have not done much solo travel and I am trying to challenge myself a bit more. I'm interested in walks/hiking, music/live music, dancing, nature, sightseeing, books, food (but not a foodie, I just like to eat 😀).
