Qatar

Qatar is one of the safest countries in the world. Any lady traveller can be sure that she will be respected and well treated here. You can stay outside any time of the day without danger of being robbed, raped, kidnapped. It's enough to know English to travel here.

Doha

It is generally a safe city with low crime rates, and they have many CCTVs and safety features around. The country prides itself for being safe and having a safe city but I always advice for the basic safety precautions anywhere you are.

Qatar

Qatar is an extremely safe country. I am a student. I can walk at night at any time. I am sure no one will approach me or try to do anything because the culture affects many things. It’s not appropriate in this country to approach a woman that openly or harass her.

Is Qatar safe to travel?

Qatar, Family travel

My visit to Qatar during the World Cup was truly an amazing experience. It is the safest country I have ever been to, and everyone was so kind. I got around using the metro and trams. They are accessible and very easy to understand. If you're unsure about something, ALWAYS ASK. It will save you a lot of time. There are Ubers, but most of them know little or no English, so prepare for a language barrier. However, you really don't need an Uber unless you're in a hurry. Download Talabat, a food delivery app in Qatar, it's a real lifesaver on nights when you're tired and don't feel like going out. And for those who are staying in apartments and Airbnbs, you can order grocery delivery. I stayed in a rented apartment with my family and a few times we cooked breakfast, but mostly we ate out while doing various activities or ordered food from Talabat. Places you must visit are Souq Waqif with all the Qatari street food stalls, Qatari shopping centers, the Museum of Islamic Art, and the Qatari Cultural Village.

Doha, Family travel

Very safe! I never felt uncomfortable as a woman in Doha and I didn't have to worry about my belongings either. The only downside is that it's quite expensive. However, there's a lot to do and a lot to see which makes it so worth it!

About Me

Hey, I'm Leila. I've been based in Doha, Qatar, since the end of 2020, and I've lived here and there. I never know how to answer the question "where are you from" because I never know what people are asking about (nationality? accent? where I grew up? what is home for me? where I got my skin color and features?...I have a different answer to each question) I have not done much solo travel and I am trying to challenge myself a bit more. I'm interested in walks/hiking, music/live music, dancing, nature, sightseeing, books, food (but not a foodie, I just like to eat 😀).
