It is safe to walk alone during the day as a woman. There will be some men staring at you on the streets for sure, just like in any other country. I walk in Hamra streets every day and I never got assaulted by a man, it's just their staring that makes me very uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend for women to walk alone in the dark. Buses are safe. But always stay alert my ladies, nowhere is 100% safe for us.
Posted: May 30, 2025Not safe at all I don't really feel safe walking in the streets of Beirut even if I'm not alone or even if have a knife on me or anything else I fell like when I go to Beirut I Wana get a bodyguard to protect me !
Posted: May 11, 2025Beirut is a big city and like most cities you have areas safer than others, it’s good to always keep things with you on hand like pepper spray and if you’re traveling alone always have your location shared with someone trusted, and if you can try to befriend locals do so as they can show you around and inform you of safe/unsafe areas. There’s amazing people of all kinds in Beirut!
Posted: May 8, 2025Its safe in terms no one will try to pickpocket or steal your things but as a woman there are many catcalls or maybe it can reach to the point of getting sexually harassed or assaulted specially if ur foreigner and dont know the language but in general locals are so kind and welcoming

Those who’ve been to Beirut (luckier are those who explored Lebanon entirely) leave in love. Safety isn’t a major concern, despite the few headlines one would stumble upon when googling any destination. Foreign women are better off making a Lebanese friend (still residing here would be more accurate) before arriving here. Advice on prices, transport systems, where to NOT go alone, and what places to not miss. Transport - Taxis are better than any other option (“Service” means a shared cab; “Taxi” means private taxi, including Uber & Bolt). Behavior - Being nice and kind is good of course, but don’t be naive. People can be cunning, and the economic situation can lead them to increase prices when foreigners are the customers. I’ve lived in Beirut all my life and walked most of its streets at odd times. While I always keep an eye out, I mostly feel comfortable.

Beirut is a very chill area, and people rarely get in your way unless provoked. Tourists are very highly respected. However, everyone needs to be aware of specific streets and routes where it is less safe to spend time alone or at night.

beautiful city, amazing people and culture, the best food, super fun nightlife, stunning nature ranging from snowy mountains over pretty beaches to hystorical towns. men still suck and I wouldnt recommend walking alone at night, generally I did feel safe though (or as safe as a woman can feel in any big city).
Posted: January 10, 2025Experienced: June, 2016I have been in Beirut for two weeks and it is an amazing time. This city is full of energy, with lots of things to do, bars, clubs, parties, shops and restaurants. People here are very kind. I felt very safe.
