A very quiet and safe city. Public transport is not really the best. However nice place to chill, quiet, good nightlife and pretty safe. Please know that these things change when it comes to Tirana(the capital)

Was in Durrës, Albania from June 1st till the 5th. It was amazing, the food was good, the weather was sunny and warm and overall a great experience. Super inexpensive all together. The only downside was the transport, the apps don’t work well and the taxis take cash and that not everyone speak English (but managed to communicate still). Over all felt very safe, and is family friendly. It’s like being in Spain but much cheaper and less of a crowd. I went on a vr-tour where the tour guides showed the nature and told about some local history, it was just the perfect adventure and saw beautiful nature. If I was staying longer I would honor hikes around the area to visit more hidden gems. Overall loved the experience and will definitely travel there again.
Posted: June 29, 2025Experienced: June, 2025I felt safe oberall but i would not recommend to solo travelling women. Taxi drivers and hawkers can by quiet intrusive so do not make eye contact if you don't want to buy something. Also there are a lot of stray dogs in the streets and on the beach, especially at dawn. The beach is very nice and there's always opportunities for playing volleyball or renting a pedal boat/ jetski. The restaurants and appartments that are not direct at the beach (but still only 2 minutes away by foot) are way cheaper amd still clean with good food :)
