Ethiopia

From the ancient rock-hewn churches of Lalibela to the stunning Simien Mountains, Ethiopia is a land of breathtaking landscapes and fascinating cultural experiences. Visitors can explore the vibrant markets of Addis Ababa, take a boat ride on Lake Tana, and visit the monasteries of the Gondar region. Ethiopia is also home to some of the world's most incredible wildlife, including the endangered Ethiopian wolf and the majestic Gelada baboon.

If you’re on your own I’d stick to the north. Very little infrastructure at all in the south. Best cities are Lalibela, Axum and Gondar. If you’re traveling domestically Ethiopian airlines is probably the only close to the respectable airline in the country. Rock cut churches of Lalibela are amazing. Be prepared for a lot of hassling by the local people anywhere you go.
I loved Ethiopia! I hiked the Semien Mountains, saw amazing churches, climbed Erte Ale and saw lava and went to the Danakil Depression which looked like another planet.
