About me

hello! I am traveling on my own for the first time, and want to experience meeting new people, I am also visiting friends and family all over europe, so the few places where I'll really be by myself, CS seems like a great way to be friendly and travel on a budget. I work as a psychologist so I love talking and listening to people, and also have no issue keeping to myself and going out most of the day, so I only require a place to sleep and hopefully cook something simple at the end of the day. I hope this little introduction gives you an idea of my visit and we get to meet :) Thanks anyway for your disposition as host and if you ever visit Chile or Latinamerica count on me to help, host and give you useful information!

Local experience

Chile is a very diverse country in landscapes, especially valued for being an adventure destination. You will find beaches and mountains, glaciers and lakes, forests and deserts, and of course good food and drinks! Within Latin America it is one of the safest countries, moving by public transport within a city is not complicated if you are well informed. As it is a long country, the distances between destinations are usually long, with bus and plane options to move between regions. The use of a credit card is almost universal, but if you go to a more rural area it is always a good idea to have cash on hand. To save money, the typical thing is the same as in other countries, staying in hostels, booking activities here, creating your own itinerary, cooking your own food, etc., it all depends on the budget. There is everything to do: San Pedro de Atacama for desert and stars, Elqui Valley for vineyards and meditation, Valparaíso for beaches and colorful hills, Santiago for gastronomy and urban life, Valdivia for wetlands and urban life, Lake Llanquihue for gastronomy and nature, Chiloe for landscapes and culture and, of course, travel the Carretera Austral from Puerto Montt to Villa O'Higgins. If you like multi-day trekking: Conguillío National Park, Torres del Paine National Park, Achibueno River Valley, Tantauco Park, Dientes del Navarino. The best time to come will depend on your destination. If it is a central area, I would recommend spring because of the landscape and because the stifling heat has not yet arrived, while if it is a southern/southern area, come in summer when there is less rain. Although, like any part of the world, everything new is amazing, in my opinion Chile is a country worth visiting for the variety of activities and landscapes. I am in love with my country and I recommend it 100%

Group travel experience

I traveled with family. It felt safe all long. We are lots of good foods and saw beautiful nature that I haven’t seen anywhere else. The distances within the country are vast so we traveled by flight or night bus to get from one place to another.

Solo travel experience

Chile was incredible. I spent several months there alone and didn't have any problems. Despite this, I didn't visit the big cities (I was just looking for quiet seaside towns, La Serena is amazing). I didn't drink alone nor did I stray far from my hotel at night, especially alone. I also speak Spanish, which helped a lot. Without it, I wouldn't have been able to get around as well.
