Safety:Safe

Doha, the capital of Qatar, is generally safe for solo female travelers. Qatar is a country known for its strict and reliable law enforcement, keeping the safety level high. The local culture is respectful and harassment is not commonly encountered. However, keep in mind that Qatar follows strict Islamic laws. Therefore, it is important to dress conservatively and respect local customs to avoid any unwanted attention or misunderstandings. As always, remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings.

Transport:Easy

Navigating Doha is generally straightforward, thanks to the city's modern infrastructure. Multiple options are available such as taxis, buses, or a recently launched metro system. However, the city is designed more for driving than walking, with routes often not pedestrian-friendly. Therefore, exploring on foot can be a challenge, especially during hot seasons.

Things to do:Interesting

Doha is surprisingly vibrant and offers various experiences. You can explore iconic landmarks like the Museum of Islamic Arts, Souq Waqif, and the Pearl-Qatar. The city is also renowned for its majestic skyline views and local cuisine. The desert adventures and beaches combined with the luxury shopping facilities make it enticing for most travelers. However, cultural restrictions may limit certain activities, especially for solo female travelers.

Food:Above average

In Doha, the food scene is quite sensational and diverse, with a rich blend of traditional Arabian dishes and international cuisine. From native Qatari meals to modern gourmet fusion food, there is truly something to please every palate. Street food is also plentiful, offering an exploration of various Middle Eastern flavors. Aside from that, various grocery stores and markets stock a wide range of international food items. However, though vegetarian and vegan options exist, they can sometimes be limited or harder to find. Overall, Doha’s food scene offers a beautiful culinary journey, but could offer more for dietary preferences.

Budget:Moderate

Doha offers a mixed bag when it comes to budget traveling. While luxury establishments and upscale dining can be pricey, there are plenty of inexpensive activities and cheap eats available. Transportation like taxis and metrolines are also reasonably priced. Accommodation may lean towards the higher end unless booked well in advance or opting for budget options.

Is Doha worth visiting?

Family travel experience

Very safe! I never felt uncomfortable as a woman in Doha and I didn't have to worry about my belongings either. The only downside is that it's quite expensive. However, there's a lot to do and a lot to see which makes it so worth it!

Group travel experience

Need to wear something that covers shoulders for women. But great stopover for a 48h layover. Doha is beautiful, I went dune bashing, visited the souks and had a great time in a city as rich as Dubai but less crazy :) Safe !
