Doha, Solo travel

Doha is a beautiful country with perfect architecture! Very kind and responsive people, so I didn’t feel fear or danger for a minute. I recommend visiting the The Pearl Island and Al Maha Island. Also go to Souq Waqif, there you can find souvenirs, clothing stores and etc. The weather is humid and hot, so I immediately bought myself an abaya, because it’s impossible to walk in jeans :)

Doha, Solo travel

I was there a few months ago, and it is one of the few places where I didn't feel safe. Cars stopping non-stop, offering me rides or trips to the Safari, one followed me for so long until I hid in a café, men in shops offering to pay for me and then chatting me up at the entrance. Never again.

I am incredibly impressed by this city. The cleanliness and safety surprised me. Uber, which doesn’t always work well everywhere, is amazing there. And it’s relatively affordable. You feel safe during the day, and people are very friendly. I was traveling with my friend who has lived there for a few years, which made things easier for me, but I can tell you that even if you’re planning a solo trip, you can go without any worries. A few things surprised me, like the paid beaches, which aren’t cheap. As for alcohol, I probably don’t need to say that you can’t buy it in stores, and locals themselves need a license to buy it privately for home use. The city and its architecture made a huge impression on me.

Doha, Solo travel

I traveled alone on my own and felt very safe. No one bothered me. I took an Uber from the airport and caught a taxi on the street on the way back, no unpleasantness at all; people were very kind and helpful. Granted, I only walked around the Corniche, the souq, and the Museum of Islamic Art (I didn’t have time for more as I was just on a layover), so I stayed in tourist areas, but I think it would be similar everywhere.

Doha is a wonderful city to visit. I felt safe while moving around Doha. I would like to note the convenience of public transport - you can take the metro to all the most interesting places in Doha. I recommend visiting the Qatar National Museum, Sku Waqif Market, Doha Qatar Cultural Museum and the Doha Corniche (there are many attractions along it).

Qatar, Family travel

My visit to Qatar during the World Cup was truly an amazing experience. It is the safest country I have ever been to, and everyone was so kind. I got around using the metro and trams. They are accessible and very easy to understand. If you're unsure about something, ALWAYS ASK. It will save you a lot of time. There are Ubers, but most of them know little or no English, so prepare for a language barrier. However, you really don't need an Uber unless you're in a hurry. Download Talabat, a food delivery app in Qatar, it's a real lifesaver on nights when you're tired and don't feel like going out. And for those who are staying in apartments and Airbnbs, you can order grocery delivery. I stayed in a rented apartment with my family and a few times we cooked breakfast, but mostly we ate out while doing various activities or ordered food from Talabat. Places you must visit are Souq Waqif with all the Qatari street food stalls, Qatari shopping centers, the Museum of Islamic Art, and the Qatari Cultural Village.

Doha, Family travel

Very safe! I never felt uncomfortable as a woman in Doha and I didn't have to worry about my belongings either. The only downside is that it's quite expensive. However, there's a lot to do and a lot to see which makes it so worth it!

Need to wear something that covers shoulders for women. But great stopover for a 48h layover. Doha is beautiful, I went dune bashing, visited the souks and had a great time in a city as rich as Dubai but less crazy :) Safe !

Qatar, Solo travel

Qatar is one of the safest countries to live in. It's quite a conservative country, so please wear appropriate clothing: no strap tops, short shorts and the like. Of course, always stay alert and watch your surroundings, especially at night! Here are my top things to do and places to visit in Qatar: 1. Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) and MIA Park. MIA was designed by I.M. Pei, who also designed the Louvre in Paris. On the hill in MIA Park, there is the best viewpoint for the panorama of Doha! 2. After visiting the MIA, you can walk along the promenade. For 10-15 QAR, you can sail on a traditional boat, called a dhow, for 10 minutes. 3. Visit Souq Waif to buy souvenirs, a hookah, Turkish coffee, etc. 4. Villaggio Mall. Similar to the Venetian Mall in Macau.

Honestly, it's very safe for anyone. I haven't had any issues living here..but I wouldn't recommend anyone to come during summer (june-july) it's too hot, December would be pretty good time to visit. (Expensive country)
