Safety:Safe

Taghazout presents a moderately safe environment for solo female travelers. Though crime is relatively low, female travelers may experience occasional unsolicited attention or harassment. It's essential to respect local culture and dress modestly. Also, avoid walking alone at night and keep your belongings secure. However, locals are generally friendly and the town is frequently visited by foreigners leading to a balanced atmosphere of familiarity and caution. It's always important to stay alert and maintain good general travel safety practices.

Transport:Moderate

Navigating Taghazout can be moderately easy once you're familiar with the area. It's a small village so it can be explored mostly on foot. However, the streets are not named which can be confusing initially. For longer distances, you could hire a taxi or use a bus, but make sure to negotiate prices especially with taxis. It is also always advised to learn a few basic words or phrases in Arabic, as English is not widely spoken by locals.

Things to do:Interesting

Taghazout offers a diverse selection of activities catering to various interests. Being a renowned surf spot in North Africa, it attracts enthusiastic surfers all year round. Besides surfing, you can indulge in yoga retreats and relax on the beautiful beaches. The town’s unique culture and cuisine also provide a deep, enriching experience. However, the absence of various modern amenities might be less appealing for some.

Food:Above average

Taghazout offers an impressive array of culinary delights that reflect its diverse culture and history. Your palate will enjoy the rich blend of African, Arabian and Mediterranean flavors, from delightful tagines, fresh seafood to various street foods. However, vegetarian options might be a bit limited. The food is generally fresh, wholesome, and flavorful, adding to the unique Moroccan experience.

Budget:Moderate

Taghazout is moderately budget-friendly. Accommodation prices have a broad range, catering to both budget travelers and those wanting a bit of luxury. Eating out is generally affordable, with plenty of street food options. However, activities such as surfing lessons, yoga classes, and guided tours may add up. Public transportation is reasonably priced yet note that it's less frequent and reliable than most western countries.

Is Taghazout worth visiting?

Solo travel experience

I have been to Taghazut many times. It's a beautiful place with wonderful people. It's safe even for a girl traveling solo. I met many young, open-minded, local surfers there. Even when returning alone multiple times, even in the evenings, I never felt uncomfortable or threatened. It's one of my favorite places in the world. I highly recommend it.
