Solo Female Travel in Liechtenstein

Nestled between Switzerland and Austria in the heart of the Alps, Liechtenstein is a small but mighty gem known for its stunning natural beauty, medieval castles, and friendly inhabitants. Despite its tiny size, the principality offers a variety of recreational activities, from hiking and skiing in the majestic Alpine peaks to exploring the rich cultural heritage in its capital, Vaduz. Liechtenstein is famed for being one of the world's two doubly landlocked countries, its thriving financial sector, and as the last remnant of the Holy Roman Empire. Its serene locations, vibrant festivals, and delicious cuisine make it an enchanting destination for travelers.

Is Liechtenstein good for solo travel?

Safety:

Safety:Very safe

Liechtenstein is considered very safe for solo female travelers. The crime rate is very low, and people are generally respectful and friendly. Public transportation and facilities are safe to use. However, as with traveling anywhere, it is always important to be cautious, aware of your surroundings, and respect local laws and customs.
Transport:

Transport:Easy

As a small country, it is quite convenient to navigate and explore Liechtenstein. The terrain is favorable with mainly flat and hilly areas, no dense forests or high mountains. Most of the attractions are within a short distance of each other, making it possible to travel around even on foot or bike. However, some remote areas might pose a bit of challenge. Language is not very problematic as most locals speak English.
Things to do:

Things to do:Moderate

Liechtenstein offers a moderate range of activities to engage in during your visit. Being majorly covered in mountains, it's ideal for hikers and nature lovers alike. Visiting the medieval castles like Vaduz Castle and enjoying the panoramic views they offer will indeed make for a captivating experience. A walk in the city center provides good insight into their culture with a display of modern and traditional architecture. Despite lacking in a wide variety of activities, the uniqueness of visiting one of the world's smallest and richest countries still makes it an attractive destination.
Food:

Food:Above average

Liechtenstein offers a satisfying variety of food ranging from traditional fare to international cuisine. You can enjoy hearty meals reflecting the country's Alpine culture to more sophisticated dishes influenced by neighboring countries. Local agricultural products are of high quality and often organically produced. Traditional dishes, like Käsekuchen, a cheese quiche, and Ribel, a corn-based dish, are must-try. The country's modest size may limit extreme culinary diversity, but the quality and availability of good food are not in question.
Budget:

Budget:Moderate

The cost of living in Liechtenstein is quite high in comparison to many other European countries. Accommodation and meal expenses can fall on the heavier side, especially if one is aiming for more luxurious options. However, there are ways to keep the cost relatively reasonable such as utilizing public transportation and eating at local restaurants. Outdoor activities, like hiking and exploring the beautiful scenery, are free of charge.

Is Liechtenstein worth visiting?

Solo travel experience

I stopped in Sargans, a charming little town in Switzerland. From there, I took bus number 11 to Balzers, which is a city in Liechtenstein. I wandered around Balzers for a bit, and then I took a bus to Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein. There were several things to do there - I went to the old bridge over the Rhine, watched a film about the palace in an old cinema, and took part in a train tour around the city. I also had a delicious meal - pasta in cheese style served with apple sauce and a really good local dessert. I took the bus back to Sargans.
