Stockholm was my first solo trip abroad and I believe it's a great place for a first solo journey. I was there for 3 nights, I felt very safe, and everything went smoothly. I walked quite a lot of kilometers, as there was always something that caught my attention and I couldn't get enough of it.

I felt completely safe and everybody was helpful and friendly. I can clearly recommend the city, also for solo travelling. As student you can get many discounts in museums, which is perfect if you want to educate your self a bit on your trip. You must know everything is quite expensive in this city.

I recommend this city to all vintage lovers, to those who seek safe and clean places. The urban planning is great, looks ideal on every photo, restaurant are vegan friendly, the fika is a must-do experience!
Posted: May 30, 2023Experienced: March, 2023I discovered that Stockholm is modern and progressive, while still respecting its history. The architecture is stunning, and the city itself is huge. Despite its size, I feel safe walking alone at night, thanks to well-lit streets and the presence of people of all ages. If Stockholm is on your travel list, I highly recommend a visit.
Posted: May 1, 2023I went there alone last year for 3 nights and it was wonderful. I felt very safe, and the place itself was beautiful. One day, I took a free guided walk, another day I visited the Vasa Museum, and then I just explored Gamla stan and the area around my hostel. I would like to go back.
Posted: April 15, 2023We went there for a weekend getaway. We felt really safe. We took part in a two-hour canal cruise with a guide, who spoke about the bridges, which was really cool. We rode Lime electric scooters on several islands and it turned out to be the fastest and easiest way to see as much as possible. Stockholm is really beautiful, especially because of all these colorful buildings. Really pleasant, fresh Scandinavian air. During the day the weather was warm, although temperatures dropped in the evening. On Saturday evening we also visited an ice bar, which was also something different and original. Some things are expensive, but we managed to find places where we could eat at a reasonable price both nights.
Posted: April 15, 2023Stockholm was my first solo trip, I felt very safe and fantastic there. I stayed at the hostel "STF af Chapman & Skeppsholmen", I chose it because I wanted some company, as it was my first solo trip. The hostel is very close to the city center, I reached 90% of the main attractions on foot, and then I used public transport, which was also very safe. Skansen was really nice, I also loved the Royal Palace and took a tour of the archipelago. It took me 3.5 hours and it was really beautiful, I did it at sunset. Food can be expensive, but there are plenty of tasty pastries for little money and it's definitely worth treating yourself to a meal at least a few times to try local food, I loved it! Berries have my heart.

I live in the city, on sodermalm, and have always felt comfortable walking home and alone at night. There have been times when I’ve walked home from the bar quite drunk for almost an hour and it’s always been okay. I would say Sthlm is a super safe city
Posted: March 23, 2024Overall very safe! Public transport is safe to use both day and night and reliable. As in any big city, there can be risks. I’ve lived here for 4 years and never experienced any sort of crime or uncomfortable situation.
Posted: March 20, 2024Stockholm is a nice place, but of course you shouldnt be outside in night alone. In main city area is fine. But not to the areas around there it is alot of violent so it is good to avoid those areas. But overall the Swedes are super kind, respectful and trustable.
Posted: March 3, 2024Inside the city it feels safe to walk after dark and use public transport at night - only places I would avoid: - To walk in parks at night - assault and rape do occur so stay on the streets where there is light - To walk around central station at night (same as many cities) - however using metro at central station feels completely safe - Stay away from some suburbs late at night (google the specific suburb you are going to see if it is considered safe) - however I would feel safe being in any suburb (even the more troubled ones) during the day and until 8-9 in the evening at least

I would say Stockholm is a safe place to travel to alone as a girl, but take caution as per usual when deciding your walking path late at night. Don’t be afraid of using the subway, it’s perfect for transportation even at night. If you take a taxi however, make sure to use a more serious taxi company than Uber, use Taxi Stockholm instead, they have much better control of their drivers.

In the central parts i would say very safe, some parks or areas outside of the city I would not walk around alone at night. But generally I feel safe both walking home and taking public transport home from the club for example.

Stockholm is very safe, as long as you're street smart and do some research on what areas to might stay out of after dark - as with any other place in the world. But in general, it's nothing to worry about.
Posted: February 21, 2024I have lived here for more than ten years and feel safe in both urban and green spaces, of which there are many. I often walk and or run at night as well as early mornings when it is still dark and I experience a general feeling of safety in my daily life.

Stockholm is such a fantastic city. If you love museums, nature, culture, that’s your place. I’ve been there during the winter so it was a hard weather for a Brazilian but I’ve got by!
Posted: January 21, 2024I was in Stockholm a month ago for 4 days. I didn't find it expensive, as I was told, but I was also there off-season. I stayed in the city center and went everywhere on foot. I used the Viator app to book a bundle of museum offers and a walking tour of the old town. I spent a little less than 600 dollars on the hotel, food, walking tour, five museums, boat trip, and a shuttle bus to and from the airport. English was prevalent everywhere and everyone spoke it.
