We stayed in the small tourist town of Negril, a quaint hotel right on 7 Mile Beach. I felt safe walking the beach at all times of the day. The food prices I found a bit high, and they pretty much just use American currency with tourists. I really enjoyed my stay; the people are friendly, but you do have to mind the peddlers. They can get a bit much.
Posted: January 15, 2024Experienced: February, 2022I stayed on a Sandals resort, and while there I felt extremely safe! The people were very nice and always accommodating to what we needed. I got sick while on the resort, and the staff directed me to a doctor that made sure I got the medicine I needed. 10/10 experience!
Posted: November 28, 2023I went to Jamaica for 2 weeks at the beginning of March. It was not a solo trip, but my friend and I didn't want to "stay at the resort". We went to Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios. The most important thing was the people we met. Beautiful beaches and nature. We took a bamboo river tour on the Great River, Blue Hole for jumping, Rick's Cafe for more cliff jumping, and also the small Dunn's River. We traveled between the cities using the Knutsford bus - they were air-conditioned, safe and affordable. I found Jamaica a bit expensive, considering the tours, food and accommodation etc.
Posted: October 13, 2023I spent five days in Jamaica. It's an incredibly beautiful island. You have to be careful, but I didn't find it dangerous or difficult as a solo female traveller. I found everyone there to be nice and willing to help.
Posted: October 1, 2023I went with my daughter. We stayed in Montego Bay for the first two days and walked to the beaches. I felt safe, but I was certainly aware of my surroundings and didn't come back late. I used Viator to book a trip to Negril and back. In Negril, I opted for an all-inclusive option, but I did go on tours. I was afraid, being only with my daughter on a boat with men we didn't know, but everything was fine.
Posted: September 29, 2023I was in Negril, Jamaica and it was one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. Despite that, I was there with my girlfriend, and Jamaica is a very homophobic place. If you are heterosexual, I think you will not have any problems. Negril is a small town and quite safe, although I warn against going out alone at night, as men can be very aggressive.

On vacation on the south coast of Jamaica at a place called Treasure Beach. No all-inclusives, two small boutique hotels actually three. Now the rest of the accommodation is Villas where you can rent a room or rent the whole Villa. Treasure Beach is made up of five base each per wonderful swimming. Downtown Treasure Beach is Frenchman's bay. Quieter areas would be Calabash Bay and old wharf road. I have been going for 14 years now. I feel like a local. They treat me like a local and the best place is most of the restaurants etc. Are our own by locals or expats. Wonderful! Italian lady has a restaurant called mellow yellow. There's a wellness place with smoothies etc. Even a bakery now. Best thing is you can use local Jamaican money instead of having to convert and there's a bank machine there
Posted: December 30, 2023Experienced: April, 2023I just returned from Jamaica and I have to say that sexual harassment and other forms of harassment there are very intense. Especially for someone who went there alone and didn't stay at resorts or all-inclusive locations. It seems to be better at the resorts.

Hi I’m salihah all I dream is stepping on the soil of as many countries as i can. I’m a college student currently and still travel as much as possible. im on here because since I am 18 years old most my friends aren’t really as adventurous because of limiting things like money and time but I pour all my money and time into traveling so we’re just different that way,so I would like to meet some people like me. I love my solitude on trips but I’m very safety wary! I’m more on the shy/quiet side but once I hear we have something in common i can’t stop talking feel free to message me☀️
