I would say our city is pretty safe. People here are willing to help in case of emergency. No pickpockets. Unfortunately, in Kyrgyzstan, there are some men with a very low level of social responsibility — they may insult women, commit domestic violence, or engage in harassment. But fortunately, in my large circle of friends and acquaintances, there are no such people.

Bishkek is quite a safe city in my experience. I feel comfortable walking alone in most areas after dark without significant concerns about theft. As a woman, I do encounter occasional unwanted attention, similar to what women unfortunately experience in many places around the world. It's not particularly severe here - just the typical gender-based interactions that women often need to be mindful of while traveling. Overall, I find the safety situation to be reasonable, though women travelers may want to exercise the same awareness they would in other international destinations.
Posted: March 3, 2025I don't think it's a dangerous country but every country has its own bad people so it's good if you're careful. Till now, I don't think I've experienced any of these harassments. Here's people are nice when you Approach nice
Posted: February 4, 2025I would say its a safe place especially for foreign woman. I mostly walk alone even in dark and remote areas because i love to walk and explore different parts of the city regardless of time. Also i am a kind of person who can go alone anywhere if my friends are busy and i have almost never felt danger

Bishkek is mostly safe for women, especially if you walk alone in the city center or on busy streets. However, I wouldn’t recommend walking alone in remote areas, new neighborhoods, or suburbs, especially at night. The overall crime rate in Bishkek is quite low, but women should still be careful. Use comfort or business class taxis instead of economy. Avoid walking alone on dark and empty streets. Watch your drinks at bars. In general, stay alert and take the same precautions as you would in any other country.

Hi all! I didn’t have much time in Bishkek. But all in all experience of just walking around and visiting parks + the National History Museum (better organized than in Almaty, KZ btw!) made me happy. All in all people are helpful, I didn’t feel pressure or anything.

I would recommend this trip to everyone who loves nature and hiking! And horses! The country is pretty safe and locals are very welcoming (I’m a white blonde women saying this). I didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. They are Muslims but not really strict so you don’t need to cover much. The nature is stunning and the hikes are really accessible. Would ho back!
