Tirana is a pretty safe city. However, just like other places there are shitty people here. I would recommend to look like you know what you are doing, don't look lost and just don't go into sketchy neighborhoods. As a local I always use the main roads at night. Might take a little longer but it's worth it.
Posted: December 23, 2024It is overall a safe city, only concern is catcalling during the late hours of night. There are no pickpocketers. I love how I feel safe walking around at all times alone. If you need help, there are people on the street which will try and help you out.
Posted: December 23, 2024I walk at night in Tirana, and it is pretty safe, there have been catcalling before but it has minimised, men tend to catcall foreigners but its a small minority and they don’t really act on it. Central area is very safe.
Posted: August 3, 2024Tirana is a safe place overall in my experience. What I’m mostly negatively experiencing is verbal harassment by older men and (un)fortunately nothing outside “common”. They would make comments about my appearance and ask me out. I was never touched inappropriately or physically assaulted. Ive walked outside in different hours of the day, from 6am to 2am.
Posted: July 6, 2024Tirana is a safe city, I mean overall Albania is a safe country with great hospitable people, who are very welcoming and friendly. Tirana is growing modern and friendly with tourists. Feel free to visit.

I felt very safe in Tirana. They have a good amount of museums and attractions you may want to visit It was the first time in my life when I was able to walk alone after midnight, talking in the phone without a care in the world. Truly an amazing experience

I really liked this city, it was very vibrant and lively. Great food for good prices, friendly people. I arrived at 7:30pm and had to walk to my hostel from the bus stop which I would usually be a little worried about in the dark, but there were many young people walking around and I saw young women walking on their own and felt very safe. Do the free walking tour! It was extremely interesting and very informative. Our guide was very passionate and excited to share a bit of the history of Tiranë and also places for food and drink. House of Leaves was also very interesting. The city park is nice (although the lake is very swampy). The mosque is really beautiful to see as well.

Hi i am Donatela (Donna for short if it’s easier for you) I am new here, and also new at travelling I have always dreamed of travelling but I wasn’t able to. Now i think i will begin to follow my dream more I have just finished medical school and work as a family doctor in Tirana, Albania I consider my self social (but an introvert one, whose battery gets recharged only by alone time ahaha), i love getting to know new people and trying new things (even-though often i fail miserably ahaha) but yeah, that’s me as of now. Wish you all the best and have fun. World is your oyster!
