My visit to Qatar was during the world cup was overall such an amazing experience. It's the safest I've ever felt in a country and everyone was so kind. I got around using the metro and trams. They are accessible and very easy to understand. And if you aren't sure about something ALWAYS ASK. It will save you a lot of time. Ubers exist but most of them know little to no English so be prepared for the language barrier. However, you don't really need an Uber unless you're in a rush. Download Talabat the delivery app in Qatar, it's such a lifesaver for nights when you feel tired and don't want to go out. Or for those staying in apartments and Airbnb, you can get your groceries delivered to you. I stayed in a rented apartment with my family and we cooked breakfast a few times but mostly ate while out doing activities or ordered in using Talabat. Places you can't miss are Souq Waqif for all the Qatari street food, the Qatari malls, the Museum of Islamic Art, and Katara Cultural Village.
Posted: November 3, 2023Qatar is one of the safest countries to live in. It is a bit conservative country, so please wear appropriate clothing: no tank tops, short shorts, and the like. Of course, always be alert and vigilant of your surroundings, esp at night! Here are my top things to do and places to visit in Qatar: 1.Museum of Islamic Arts (MIA) and MIA Park. MIA was designed by I.M. Pei who also designed the Louvre in Paris. Atop a hill in MIA Park is the best vantage point to see the Doha skyline! 2.Once youโre done at MIA, you can walk along the corniche. You can ride a dhow, a traditional sailing vessel, for 10-15 QAR for 10 minutes. 3. Visit Souq Waif for souvenirs, sisha, turkish coffee, etc. 4. Villaggio Mall. Just like the Venetian Mall in Macau.
