Albania is generally safe for solo female travellers. The country is known for its hospitality and friendly locals, and the crime rate is low. However, as with any destination, it is important to take the necessary precautions to ensure your safety, such as avoiding walking alone at night and being aware of your surroundings.

I spent a week solo in Albania last April. I took the ferry from Corfu to Sarande and then the public bus from Sarande to Tirana. I felt safe and had great time. I stayed at Tirana Backpacker Hostel and Backpackers SR in Sarande, and would recommend them both.
Posted: August 1, 2023Stayed 4 months in Albania as a solo. Loved it. I never felt unsafe and I went out at night a lot. There were some villages I stayed at and it was weird - all men sitting around drinking coffee, and I was the only female. Never felt threatened but it was creepy cause they would just stare.
Posted: July 25, 2023I traveled the Balkans in August and my absolute favorite thing to do in Albania was Valbona to Theth hike. Also, Ohrid and Skopje were absolutely amazing. Matka Canyon was also really pretty. I didn't have any safety issues.
Posted: June 12, 2023Albania can be a safe destination for solo female travelers, but it's important to take some precautions to ensure your safety. Here are some safety tips for solo female travelers in Albania:
Before travelling to Albania, it is important to research the area you are visiting. This includes learning about the culture, customs, and safety of the area.
When travelling alone, it is important to stay aware of your surroundings. Be aware of people around you and trust your instincts if something doesn’t feel right.
It is best to avoid travelling alone at night, especially in unfamiliar areas. If you must travel at night, try to stay in well-lit areas and avoid walking alone.
Albania is a conservative country, so it is important to dress modestly. Avoid wearing revealing clothing and try to blend in with the locals.
When travelling alone, it is important to stay in secure accommodation. Make sure the hotel or hostel you are staying in has secure locks and is in a safe area.
When travelling alone, it is best to avoid carrying large amounts of cash. Use a credit or debit card instead and only carry enough cash for the day.
It is important to never accept rides from strangers. If you need a ride, use a reputable taxi service or public transportation.
When travelling alone, it is important to never leave your drink unattended. This can leave you vulnerable to being drugged or robbed.
Before travelling alone, it is important to let someone know where you are going. This can help if you get lost or need help.
Carrying a personal alarm can be a great way to alert people if you are in danger. It can also be used to scare off potential attackers.

Hello! I’m 18 years old and I live in Milan. If I have to described me with few words I surely say cheerful, funny and straightforward. I’m a really determined person and I can adapt to everything! The people who know me best could define me as a non-sporty girl but they wouldn't say I'm a lazy one either. In fact, I'm sportive when I really like the activity I'm doing, otherwise, I can't truly appreciate it. Sometimes I must stay alone but, at the same time, I need to stay with my friends hanging out and laugh with them. I'm generally friendly and curios, for this reason in this my experience I would like to meet new different people and new places. I love talking with people and try to help them, if this happens my sweetness, one of my best qualities, comes out and you can be sure I will always be next to you for every problem and difficulties. I'm always been impressed by art. Every type of it. I'm sure this thing came from my mother and her artistic bent. Unfortunately, I haven't brought from her the skill to can draw and paint, but certainly, I've learned the freedom to be whatever I want. I love travelling and take pictures, I always bring with me my camera. I enjoy adventures and the simplicity. Low cost travel, rich in emotions :)

Any thoughts on Albania? I’m looking to go for two weeks in June/July and was planning to do Tirana/Berat/Saradna/Corfu. I heard busses are really confusing and makes it easy to get lost. Are they really that bad? General recommendations also appreciated!
Posted: October 27, 2022Has anyone been on a trip to Albania before? I'm traveling to Albania by myself at the end of the month, and I would love some suggestions of things to do there
